SEASONAL ALLERGIES.
Allergies continue throughout the year, not just in Spring and Summer.
Grass and pollen allergies are common at this time of year, presenting as hayfever.
However, many people come to the clinic in Autumn and Winter with allergies, particularly in Autumn when the leaves start to fall from the trees, releasing spores into the air as the leaves scatter.
Symptoms can include:
•sneezing
•itchy eyes
•breathlessness
•rashes.
In December,2025, a review of acupuncture for allergic disorders was carried out.
It looked at how mast cells in our body contribute to the maintenance of chronic inflammation in allergic reactions.
It looked into the role of acupuncture, showing that it modulated mast cells to alleviate allergic symptoms. It also showed how acupuncture worked at reducing histamine levels.
The conclusion of the study was that acupuncture successfully alleviates allergic disorders by targeting mast cells and inflammatory cascades, supporting its potential as a safe, effective therapeutic option.
