to Clontarf Acupuncture Clinic

My name is Emer Lawlor.

I have been practicing Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 22 years.

I initially trained and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in Hammersmith Hospital, London, and worked within the field for a number of years, in both the U.K and Ireland.

However, following a bout of poor health, I attended an acupuncturist, gaining full recovery along with a deeper insight into holistic health. I became fascinated by the holistic approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the way it addresses the root cause of illness, resolving the imbalance and preventing its reoccurrence.

I decided to return to college to study Traditional Chinese Medicine, completing a 3-year course with the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland(A.F.I).

Following this, I went to Nanjing and Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital, where I worked and studied, to earn my Licentiate in Acupuncture.

My practice in Clontarf is a general one, treating a wide range of conditions, including pain, sports injuries, migraine, sinusitis, anxiety and emotional issues.

Over the years I have developed a keen interest and skill in women’s health, including gynaecology, fertility, pregnancy and the menopause. Because of this interest, I have attended lectures and seminars given by some of the world’s leading experts in this field.

I have written a number of articles for the “IrishTimes” health supplement regarding Acupuncture, and I have also appeared on Ireland AM.

I am a member of the Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association (A.F.P.A), and I spent a number of years serving as a committee member with them. It is a requirement of the AFPA that all members receive ongoing training to develop their practice and serve the public better.

All members of the AFPA are approved by all health insurance companies, such as VHI, LAYA, AVIVA, GloHealth and HSF Health Plan.
